Coolest Homemade Oompa Loompa Halloween Costume

I was able to convince my two year old son that he had to be a Willy Wonka Oompa Loompa for Halloween this year. I showed him the moves and he loved the idea, on most days.

For this homemade Oompa Loompa Halloween costume, I purchased a large pair of girls Capri white jeans two sizes too big and rolled them up for the pants. I stuffed rolled socks down his pants to add the puffiness to the sides. I bought a girls brown long sleeved top, white girls knee highs and a white turtle neck. I hand painted the brown stripes on the socks and turtleneck collar and cuffs with fabric paint.

I made brown and white pompoms and fastened them to his shoes. I bought 2 yards of large elastic and sewed the “suspenders” to the pants. I made the buttons out of brown felt. I dressed him first then sprayed his hair a florescent green. Yes, that’s his hair; he missed a few haircuts in preparation for this costume.

I got toddler white gloves. I applied the orange face paint and white eyebrows. I painted a Styrofoam egg gold and rolled in gold glitter. I added a large lollipop and voila an Oompa Loompa.

The best thing was that my son LOVED it. He would do the dance for everyone. The day after Halloween, he wanted to put the homemade Oompa Loompa Halloween costume back on again; I did not.
