Creative Hand-Crafted Peacock Halloween Costume

I made this Homemade Peacock Halloween Costume for my daughter Payton this year. She is 10 and wanted to something original, so I made her a Peacock. I found some of the supplies at a local used clothing store and the blue, green and purple feathers at the craft store. I also found some sparkly Christmas decorations in blue, green and purple that I incorporated into the tail feather section. I then took some cardboard and laid out the feathers and other decorations until I had a design that I liked and one by one glued down all of the large feathers first then the smaller things to make a nice pattern.

I then took a belt that I also found at the used clothing store and attached it to the tail feather cardboard piece so that it would fit her around the waist. She can easily take them on and off of her waist with the belt so that she can get in and out of the car,sit down or walk in a tight space. I glued the individual blue, green and purple feathers down the side of her sleeves and legs. We put gloves over her shoes with the thumb and pinky finger removed for the feet.

We found the mask at a costume store and it all came together nicely.

  1. Thanks for the details about the construction of this- I’m doing the same thing this year for my daughter. So far we have a long-sleeved gymnastics bodysuit, and the idea!
Love the gloves on the feet!
