“This is Charlotte, age 5, wearing a popcorn box! Charlotte’s favorite snack is popcorn, so this year her Homemade Popcorn Box Halloween Costume was an easy choice!
To make the box, my husband took two cardboard display easels and taped them together from the inside. He then cut out the armholes and neck hole. We first spray painted the entire box red. My husband then created the “fresh popcorn” logo on our computer, printed it off and then cut out each word by hand. He then taped off the stripes and cut out the logo pattern and taped it on. We then repainted the box white.
The ‘popcorn’ was made from Great Stuff (bought at any Home Improvement store). The hat is a popcorn bucket spray painted red with Great Stuff ‘popcorn!” She wore a white sweatshirt, and a red turtleneck, white tights and red boots!
Everyone who saw her said it was the neatest costume they had seen!
Great costume, I’d love to make one for my son for Halloween next month.
I wondered if your child was able to sit in the costume.
The reason I ask is that my son’s school has a big Halloween party in which they wear their costume all day.
I wouldn’t want him to have to stand all day!
Thanks!
Which type of great stuff did you use? I have been reading about it, there are 4 or 5 different kinds but they seem to be yellow or orange. The popcorn in your costume looks white. The reviews also said the product is hard to work with, did you have any trouble?
such a great idea w/ the spray painting then taping off and repainting the white!!! your child is sooo cute!!! will absolutely use this costume idea!!! THANKS!!!!
THAT IS AN AMAZING COSTUME I AM GOING TO MAKE A COSTUME LIKE THAT THIS YEAR!!! =D
