There are two truths in my life that I know will never change. One: I am tall. I am a 6 foot lady. I’m taller than my boyfriend and really I’m taller than everyone. We have had people point it out and while it doesn’t really matter to us, this year for Halloween we decided to take advantage of it.
The second truth is this: In my house, Halloween is bigger than Christmas. Literally thousands of people come to our house to see what we do for Halloween. Wearing great costumes goes hand and hand with being an official Halloween family. So, after searching this websites couple costumes I came across the Popeye and Olive Oyl pictures and knew I had found the perfect costume for us.
I spent a few months creating, searching, and putting these homemade Popeye and Olive Oyl costumes together. When we revealed them, everyone went crazy! Being the “real life” version of tall, lanky Olive Oyl was a real treat and my boyfriend enjoyed all the comments about his “Popeye” muscles. These costumes fit us to a tee and we plan on using them over and over again.
could you please explain how you made the collar, im a beginning sewer and i was wondering if there was a pattern or you just made it up? thanks
Actually, I didn’t sew the collar. The cut a piece of white felt and just glued it on with fabric glue. Everything that is attached is done with fabric glue. Make sure, however, you cut the white trim in the shape of the collar ie not in a straight line but curved. The piece won’t lay flat otherwise.
Thanks!
