Peacocks are nature’s showoffs so why not be a provocative one when you’re trying to be the center of attention!
I have a love of peacock feathers but could not find a single one online that showed off the true beauty of a peacock. I searched online for ideas and decided that I needed to have real feathers to make my Homemade Provocative Peacock Costume.
I ordered 30 full-sized and 4 of the short skinny ones without the eyes. I already had a turquoise and black corset and bought a black petticoat and turquoise leggings that happened to match almost perfectly.
I started by making a headband with three feathers then, instead of having an almost unmanageable fan of feathers on my back, I opted for a smaller spray of 8 that would lean to one side. I hot-glued 6 shortened feathers to the front of the corset and tucked the spray into the back. I did up my eyes by using liquid glitter instead of eye-liner, and put a lot of blue and green shadow.
You did such a great job putting that costume together that it actually looks store-bought! And I am getting such great ideas here. Good call on opting out on the huge fan of feathers, even though it is stunning when someone manages it. I just know that I would spend all night obsessing about my feathers getting messed up and I wouldn’t let anyone near enough to talk to me! And forget about ever sitting down!
I’m brainstorming (and idea-shopping here) on how to manage to keep it all as flashy as it should be. You really nailed it! Love the bodice!
Where were you able to buy the peacock feathers? I LOVE THIS!
