Coolest Homemade Raven Costume

I made this Homemade Raven Costume out of felt, taffeta, polyester batting, a black feather boa, and hot glue. It comes in 3 parts: the mask, the wings and torso, and the body.

First I cut the shapes for the pieces out of felt and hot-glued them together. The puffiness of the body is achieved with polyester batting sandwiched between felt. The body is a jumpsuit/overall style with shoulder straps, the torso and wings fit over it like a vest, and the head on top of that.

I cut each feather out of taffeta and individually glued each one on. This achieved an outstanding feather-like effect because when the wind blows, the feathers actually ruffle. I finished the leg openings off with feather boa lining. The eyes are pieces of yellow vinyl and buttons. I made eye holes so I could see and camouflaged them with black panty hose. Underneath, I wore black tights and black cloth boots.

This process took me about 8 hours over 3 days. The result was almost professional. It turned out better than I thought it would. I still have this costume in my closet because it held up so well.
