Coolest Homemade Robot Kid Costume Idea

My 3year old originally wanted to be a dinosaur, he loves dinosaurs but since we did a dragon 2 years ago and the fact that we live in Florida and it is still hot here, I didn’t think it was a good idea. He loves to walk around and say “I am a robot.” Thus, the Homemade Robot Kid Costume Idea.

I have seen great costumes on this website but thought that a “box” might be hard for him to move around in so I chose to use hard felt pieces that I spray painted silver, couldn’t find Gray, only orange! I sewed the front and the sides together, cut out the neck area and arms. Then I went to work on the “mechanics” and cut out gears and gauges and hot glued those on to the “suit.” My son didn’t like how the felt felt against his skin so I sewed up strips of red material and stuffed them and then sewed them to the arms and neck. I then sewed the back on and cut down the back from the neck so he could fit in it.

I didn’t know what I was going to use for the head piece but saw a cute robot winter hat that was crocheted and got my idea from there. Just took a gray hat that I bought at Target for $1 and made some google eyes, nose and mouth with some satellite ears and antenna. Bought red leggings, in the girls department at Target and figured we needed to do something about his feet so at the last minute I made little cover-ups for his shoes.

I thought the costume turned out cute and better than that it was a lot easier than previous costumes I have made!
