Coolest Homemade SNL Costume

This homemade SNL costume is for two people. It is the two singers that have recently been shown on SNL Weekend Update. These two singers are Garth and Kat, the ill prepared, feathered hair duo. A friend and I decided to do this costume as a costume party was coming around the bend and we found ourselves crying with laughter every time these two appeared on screen.

The characters always wear white turtlenecks with vests (decorated specific to the time of year). We decided to wear the summer vests, seeing as they were the easiest and the costume party was during the summer. The vests are bright yellow with patches of varying subjects and colors (ranging from flowers to bumblebees and such). We used felt fabric to make the vests and found stick-on flower and ladybug patches at the local arts and crafts store.

We found wigs at the costume shop and my mom (who used to be a hairdresser) cut the wigs to our specifications. Since the characters are always behind the Update desk, we could go anywhere with the pants and decided on khakis and jean shorts.
