This Homemade Spongebob Squarepants Costume was for an anything goes party and I LOVE Spongebob Squarepants, so made this outfit!
I took two small cardboard boxes with the flaps cut off and covered one with brown and white pillowcases for the shorts and shirt. The other I cut out arm holes and covered with sponges (yes, I went for the authentic touch but it took so long as I had to sew them on I wouldn’t recommend it – also really hot!) then covered again with some yellow material which I stapled on. I then attached them using sellotape.
Then I got some fabric glue and little squares of felt and cut out the tie, 3 parts to the eye, mouth, tongue, teeth and eyelashes and stuck them on! I also used some green felt for the holes in the sponge.
Success! The only thing I would recommend is checking where you put the arm holes, I think I definitely put them a bit too high up!
Hope you like it.
