Coolest Homemade Surfer Costume

MATERIALS NEEDED for the homemade surfer costume:

* Swim trunks
* Rash guard or swim shirt
* 1-1/2” thick Styrofoam sheet ($2.50)
* Yellow and black spray paint ($2 each)
* Shark stuffed animal

We did an “undersea” theme for our costumes in 2009. My husband was the surfer. This is the easiest and fastest costume we’ve ever made!

He wore his rash guard and swim trunks and we attached the stuffed animal shark “attacking” him with a safety pin on the back of his trunks.

For his surfboard, he took a Styrofoam sheet and cut out a surfboard shape with a jagged bite mark at the bottom (as though it was bitten in half). Using a utility knife, he shaped and rounded the edges. Then he spray painted the design on. It was a light prop, easy to carry, and bright enough so drivers could see us while we were trick-or-treating.

He looked great in his homemade surfer costume!
