For the shells:
We bought some fabric for the shells and cut out some cardboard ovals and stapled them to the cardboard, then stuffed that with stuffing, and stapled the rest as we went.
Bought a full green sweatsuit as well as green long sleeves to make sure none of our real skin was showing.
We bought felt and cut it into 2 identical shapes and sewed them onto our shirts for the abs. Then we had to sew in between the stuffing to get the “6 pack” look. that was a toughest part!
Then we bought striped socks, dyed them green and cut the fingers to make them only 3 fingers all together like the turtles really had.
Also, not shown in the picture, we bought green crocs and made little turtle toes that we sewn and superglued to the ends of the shoes for turtle feet!
Our Homemade Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Group Costume was a hit! People asked to take their pictures with us, and we got 2nd place in a Halloween costume contest!
i have costume day coming up at my school and i LOVE your idea! but i have no idea where to find a cheap green body suit for 4, or at least in separate pieces. any suggestions?
I bet if you looked at a walmart, target, kmart or something you would be able to find colored sweats. If all all else fails… the internet.
hi there, all we did for these was buy green sweatpants at wal-mart and the green long sleeve was from old navy! :)
