I got the idea for this homemade Thomas the Train costume from a combination of ideas I had found on this site and also from Google images.
I basically made the train out of boxes and a wagon. I did a lot of taping and cutting to create the right shapes. I used buckets covered with paper for the circular portion of the engine. I used soup cans for the smoke stacks and painted them. I cut the number “1” out of foam as well as some of the details.
The project all together took me about 2 and 1/2 days to make, using only my spare time (not all day). It was a lot of fun and worth it to see my son’s face as the project became more recognizable. We really got a lot of compliments for this homemade Thomas the Train costume during our Trick-or-Treating.
And Kristopher is so lucky to have you as a mom!
Uncle Dale
What a smart costume. The kid doesn’t even have to walk and he can use the wagon like this all the time if he wants.
I have been looking for an idea like this, as my little man is going to be Sir T. Hat, and I wanted to somehow make Thomas for him, too! AWESOME job!!!
