First of all, thanks to everyone who posted their photos of a Homemade Thomas the Train Halloween Costume – you’ve inspired what my son considers to be the coolest costume ever.
To make our Thomas the Train costume, I used the following materials:
• 1 Styrofoam cooler
• 1 Styrofoam minnow bucket
• 2 Thin rectangular boxes cut and taped in the shape of Thomas’ boilers
• 1 Easter egg for the dome
• 1 toilet paper tube for the funnel
• 2 yds. ribbon and thin pieces of wood for the harness
• 3 rolls blue duct tape
• Partial rolls of red, yellow and black duct tape
• Photo of Thomas the Train for the face – we had photos of the “real” Thomas the Train Tank Engine from our Day out with Thomas, which worked out great.
Using Styrofoam and duct tape for this costume made it very lightweight yet durable. As an added bonus, the lid still fit on the minnow bucket so candy can be dropped directly into the funnel and stored until trick or treating is complete. Happy Halloween!
