I began constructing this Homemade Transformer Costume in June of 2009. The technical challenge of creating a working transformer greatly appealed to me, although it did turn out to be more difficult and expensive than I had originally planned. It transforms from a working Ford Mustang into an Autobot, all with me inside! I have a great movie I made of a transformation I’d love to show you!
All of the electronics, including the LED lights and motors, are run off a small 12V battery located under the hood. The wheels do turn but they have a tough time getting enough traction to push me forward, which was the original intention. Hopefully “Blue Steel 2.0” will have that upgrade. I had a great time building this costume so I hope you enjoy it! Thanks!

I love your detail oriented costume. It could have been used on the set. Is there any chance you could send me detailed instructions on the piece? My four year old son is dying to be Bumblebee for Halloween!
