I made this Homemade Ugly Betty Costume for our annual Halloween party. I made the poncho out of red, blue, yellow, and white felt. I printed out “Guadalajara” and the other designs on the poncho on the computer, pinned it to the felt and then cut it out. I used spray-glue to stick them to the poncho. I hot-glued the fringe and the twisted felt collar trim.
I made Betty’s “B” necklace out of beads and modeling clay and painted a pair of sunglasses (without the lens) in red nail polish. I super-glued blue beads to my old retainer ~it still fit!
I finished the costume off with a black wig, dark drawn-on eyebrows, and dressed in tights and a mix of loud patterned and colored skirt and top. The best part of this costume was the reaction I received……Everyone LOVES Betty!!
