I made the house from UP completely out of cardboard. After a few sketches, I started out with a base box and cut out the porch and some of the roof parts. I then proceeded to add on more and more cardboard parts. I then painted everything with tempera paint (not advised because it caused every piece to warp) in colors that I thought most closely matched the house. I added a few details to the house such as siding and the windows with multicolored skirting. Once all the parts were dry, I hot glued everything back together. This was a bigger challenge than I had anticipated because the warped pieces no longer fit as well as they had before painting.
I attached some helium balloons to the back of the homemade UP Halloween costume as a finishing touch. I decided to also go as Carl (the old guy) because I needed something to wear underneath the house. A brown suit (my dad actually got married in it in 1968), a bow tie, and a pair of glasses made from cardboard later I had a complete homemade UP Halloween costume.
