Coolest Homemade Where the Wild Things Are Halloween Costume

My husband always love the book, “Where the Wild Things Are”. Since the movie came out just before Halloween, we thought it would be cool to make this Homemade Where the Wild Things Are Halloween Costume.

He sketched out his own version of a Wild Thing. I constructed it, and invented the pattern. It’s sewn with faux fur. The long hair around his face is real human hair (from wig extensions), and his horns and claws are made of satin. My husband made the wire frame that goes under the head to keep it’s shape, and also so he can see out of the mouth.

We visited the annual Halloween party here in Madison, WI on State Street. Everyone loved the costume. He’s over 8′ tall while wearing it, and with the added stuffing and squat proportions, we really give a good impression of some cheerful monster. It’s completely made from scratch from us.
