Coolest Homemade Willy Wonka Costume

Since I am a huge fan of all things Johnny Depp, I decided to make a Homemade Willy Wonka Costume this year.

I bought my coat for $8 at a thrift store and borrowed the black pants and shoes from my mom. I made the hat with cardboard and an old shirt. The cane was made from clear plastic, and a ball was attached to the top. The black detail at the bottom is black electrical tape. Part of the cane had real candy in it, the other part was just a printout from the computer.

I sewed some buttons on the shirt, on which to hang the chain. I made the collar from a piece of cloth painted red, and the Wonka pin for my neck from cardboard. I also took my dad’s old sunglasses and cut out a white frame for them from regular paper. I also bought purple gloves for a dollar.

Finally, I painted my face a bit paler with regular, white face-paint; I also gave myself a strong jaw by drawing the lines on my cheeks with black eyeliner, then smoothing it out. My hair is naturally that short, so that part didn’t take much work.
