My daughter wanted to be a woodland fairy so I got to work on her homemade Woodland Fairy Halloween costume idea. Using four colors of tulle and ribbon, I made the tutu skirt. Then, with grapevine I cut from my family’s yard, I made the base of the wings. While the vines were fresh, I was able to bend them in the position I needed without them cracking. I tied them with fishing line to keep their shape. I then covered them with tulle.
Next, I took a cheap pair of socks and cut the feet out to make the arm warmers. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too cold for her, so they were designed as a necessity just in case! I then glued leftover pieces of tulle to them to add another element to the costume.
The headpiece was made from grapevine with a string of pearls added and a silk flower! I did take more ribbon and laced them up her leg and pinned them to her shoe. Unfortunately they kept sliding down so I just left them there!! In all, I was pretty pleased with how this homemade Woodland Fairy Halloween costume idea turned out! She was a hit of the neighborhood!
