I was 7 months pregnant during the last Halloween season and was having a very hard time coming up with a “cool” idea for my husband and I (I am a Halloween fanatic and my husband is a great sport). We finally agreed on “a Homemade Homer and Marge Couple Costume ” so I got to work. I went to my local thrift store and found a pair of polyester blue pants and a white polo. I had them tailored to fit my new belly dimensions. I wore my black work shoes and a bald cap. I happened to find a green jean-like fabric on clearance at our fabric store to make Marge’s dress and since I knew I would have a difficult time finding shoes for Marge in my husband’s size (he’s 6’6″ and wears a size 14 shoe), I made shoe covers for his favorite pair of gym sneakers. I ordered his wig online and used a necklace we found at an outlet store. We used yellow latex body paint to complete the look along with some face paint (for Homer’s facial hair and the cartoon eyes).
This costume was a lot of fun… although I must admit, the application of the latex almost led to our divorce. haha
