Coolest Iron Man Child’s Costume

This is the Homemade Iron Man Child’s Costume I created for my 2 year old son. It was a good thing he was still in diapers at the time because it took forever to get him in and out of the costume. The mask was store bought but the rest of the costume was made from craft foam. I created the costume by using coloring book images of Iron Man I found online. I then enlarged the images till they were the size of my son. I printed the large version of the coloring book pages off and began to trace the image onto craft foam sheets. I would cut the various parts of Iron Man’s armor in layers so that it would build up the depth of the costume and give it a more three dimensional feel. I hot glued all the pieces of armor together. I used a high gloss red spray paint to color the foam and make it look more like glossy metal.

When the paint dried, I hot glued the armor to the black shirt and pants. The light on the chest was a “tap” light I bought at a local hardware store. I cut the foam around the tap light tight so that it would stay in the costume on it’s own but could be popped out if batteries needed to be replaced.
