This Jessie from Toy Story Costume was my first homemade costume and I loved it! I decided to make this costume because our family was the “Toy Story” cast for Halloween and I was unhappy with the quality of the Adult Jessie costume that was available to purchase.
For the shirt I bought a white button down top on clearance at a department store (I’m sure you could find one at a consignment store that would work as well, I just happened to find this one for $3. I then hot glued yellow fabric onto it. I used a photo of Jessie from the movie to make sure I got the pattern of the sequins right, I bought a sequin string at a fabric store and hot glued them onto the yellow fabric. I then glued large white buttons and ribbon onto the cuffs of the shirt.
The pants were very easy, I just bought some cow print fabric at a fabric store and hot glued them onto an old pair of jeans to looks like chaps. For the hat I bought a cheap red childs cowboy hat and replaced the string around the rim with white ribbon. I braided my hair and completed the look with a white ribbon at the bottom of the braid.
My costume is the coolest because I tried to keep it as true to the movie as possible, and I think that the small details made the costume!
Very nice job in recreating Jessie! Thanks for sharing your great ideas. I need to make a Jessie for my daughter and I will use your hints to make it. Definitely beats buying it at the store. Nicely Done!
