One of my favorite childhood film characters was the goblin king Jareth. Which came from the great mind of Jim Henson and played by David Bowie.
The costumes construction was relatively easy. The jacket was a light faux leather jacket which I had cut, rearranged bits and pieces and then sewed everything back by hand. It’s original color was to light so I painted it with leather stains. The shoulder armor was mad from a child’s army helmet that I cut and reformed, sanded and painted. The leggings I hand painted and the wig is two wigs pieced together with lots of spray. The necklace and belt buckles are made from a poly clay with lots of sanding and layers of paint and clear coats.
So far I’ve gotten very positive responses from this costume. I never realized how well known this character truly was. I’m very happy and proud of this years work.
Brilliant! You capture all the elements of the costume beautifully. Plus, you’re totally channeling Bowie in your facial expression and body posture. Excellent work.
