This year my son wanted to be the blue Lego Ninjago for Halloween. And he wanted to look like a real Lego. So I decided to attempt to make this Homemade Lego Ninjago Costume for him. I believe it turned out really well. It was a group effort. I constructed all the pieces and my fiance drew everything on to be painted. My son also drew the faces (of course, he wanted two faces to choose from) for the head.
We made the legs out of Styrofoam and cardboard and then covered them with poster board before painting. The body is just cardboard also covered with poster board. The head was made with the top and bottom being pieces of Styrofoam and the middle (face) out of poster board. The hands were made of Styrofoam and I used some water bottles for his hands to fit through so he could still use his hands.
The mask was made out of cardboard. We cut out holes where the mouths were in the face and on the mask and covered the holes with screen which we also paint. (This is where he looked out to see.) I had to use a finish on the Styrofoam before I could paint.
He looked and moved just like a real Lego and he got many compliments everywhere we went.
