I started my Marie Antoinette Halloween Costume Idea by spraying a black wig white with radiator spraypaint, the fumes were not an added bonus! I then decorated the wig with feathers and flowers.
For the dress I used an antique floral fabric, I made the pattern up for a long sleeved bodice attaching gathered lace at the sleeve cuffs with a v shaped panel at the front bodice to create the impression of a corset. For the skirt part I gathered a skirt of tulle which I sewed into the gathered skirt and lining. This created the fullness at the hips.
Finally I sewed bows down the front bodice. For the stockings I took a pair I owned and sewed on the ribbon trim. I applied white face paint, with rosy cheeks, red lips and a heart design and beauty spot, along with the most amazing pair of false eyelashes! To finish off the look I accessorized with a fan, pearls and a bloody cut around my neck and Marie Antoinette was ready to party! Let them eat cake!!
