Coolest Mrs. Scissorhands Costume

I dressed up as Mrs. Scissorhands this year and my husband was Edward Scissorhands. I found a pleathery dress at Forever 21 with gold grommets on the upper back which worked perfectly. I got some gold colored steel rings from Hobby Lobby and used black electrical tape to attach them sporadically on the dress like Edward Scissorhands’ outfit in the movie. I had a black belt with silver studs and grommets which was the main belt wrapped loosely around my waist. I used one other shiny black belt my dad let me borrow with a shiny gold buckle. I taped more of the gold rings (I got one package of 1 inch rings and one package of 3 inch rings) with electrical tape on the dress for finishing touches.

I wore black panty hose and used a pen to make rips in them. I did my own makeup after watching Kandee Johnson’s Edward Scissorhands Makeup Tutorial on youtube as a guide. Since my husband was Edward Scissorhands with the full makeup job, I wanted to be his hot wife so I used the tips from the video including concealing my eyebrows with the glue stick trick, but I decided to use my own regular foundation so that my face matched the rest of my body. I teased my hair a lot, wore black arm warmers, and bought the Edward Scissorhands gloves from Johnnie Brocks.

This Homemade Mrs. Scissorhands Costume turned out great, we got compliments all night, AND we won first place in the costume contest!
