Coolest Muppets Animal Costume

My boyfriend is a drummer and a fan of the Muppet’s Animal. He needed a costume for a Halloween show. We found nothing in stores, so I decided to create a mask of my own. The biggest hurdle was that he needed to be able to see out of the costume to play the drums. An engineering masterpiece was created!

This Muppets animal costume took 2 weeks to create using everything from heater hose, to dental floss to sew it all together. He can see out of the mouth, but nobody can see him. It’s light weight and breathable. He even had a hand in painting the eyes! Materials cost less than $60!

Then I needed a costume. I needed to be a book character for our work party, so I decided to be Thing 1 from Dr. Seus. I created the wig from a pair of fuzzy slippers! This project cost less than $20 for materials and only a few days to create. It was so much fun!

  1. I am a drummer & want to do this. will be much easier than painting my face & wigs & beards. Can you please help me and tell me the steps you took to make this and what you used. I would greatly appreciate it.

  2. Great Job! Looks professionally done! What did you use to create the round shape? And what did you use to keep it on his head? Any tips on how to make my own one of these would be great.

  5. I must know how you did this!

My wife has a minor in costume theater design and I believe this wouldn’t be too difficult for her. I, too am a drummer and I’m looking to incorporate this into a show my church does as a fundraiser for our youth group so they can go on a mission trip.

    Would be soooo fun!

  6. I see that you would make this costume and sell it to people, but I always make my own costumes for Halloween. Is there any way you can post a more detailed list of what you used and your construction process? My husband and I were Beaker and Bunsen last year…we want to make Animal one of our goals for this Halloween. :o) Please post more info pretty please. It’s that awesome.
