The round heads started as a very round balloon, were paper mached and then covered in felt. Lock and Shock are simply taped cardboard with nose and ears masking taped on and then covered in felt. The round heads are particularly hard to cover in felt so I pinned down the felt before I hot glued it down. This part takes a lot of patience!
Zero’s head is a paper mached regular balloon on its side and cut open. The upper part of Zero’s nose is half a paper mached long skinny balloon and the lower lip is a bigger tube balloon. Zero’s nose is an led light inside a fishing lure with 9V battery (it really lights up!).
All of the mouths are covered with black net- except Sally who has white net eyes (so the kids can see) and the facial accents are all felt. Sally’s dress was sewn from squares of material and accented with fabric paint, Shock’s dress was sewn from felt and felt was used to cover a lot of other accents (i.e. shoes, bat bow-tie, etc.)
Jack’s suit is a thrift store find that was pinstriped with paint. Barrel’s outfit is a sweat suit with bones painted on in glow in the dark paint. Sally’s hair is made of thick yarn and Barrel’s hair is blue fur. Sally’s eyelashes are black pipe-cleaners.
