I dressed up as a Ninja Turtle when I was 5, so I figured that 20 years later would be the perfect time to have a Ninja Turtle Costume again!
Since I live in FL, I had two versions of the costume, the hot weather (green bathing suit) and cold weather (t-shirt and track pants).
The shell was made with a cardboard base and I hot glued green fabric and stuffing to it to create the shell shape I later used gold puffy paint to add the shell lines.I made it with straps like a backpack to keep it on easily.
The chest (front shell)- yellow fabric with the puffy paint again.
Mask- Drew a mask pattern on cardstock, glued orange fabrice to cover, tied to fit.
Arm bands- orange fabric, just cut and tied to fit.
Knee pads- Brown socks with the toe cut off
Nunchucks- Plastic Jumprope handles wrapped with masking tape and are joined together with silver pipecleaners to look like linked chains.
Props- Pizza Box
It was easy, fun and I won best costume due to the originality of it being homemade.
