These Homemade Ompa Loompa Costumes were the best homemade costumes ever! Halloween is my favorite holiday and I knew I wanted to be something good, but didn’t know what! A friend had suggested an Ompa Loompa and I LOVED the idea.
I searched everywhere for the costume, but couldn’t find one that I liked and decided to make my own. I made our pants out of white sweat pant material that I had bought at Joann’s. I made sure to make them bigger than what I needed so I could just add draw strings at the legs and waist for the bunched up look. The straps were made out of left over material and I used brown felt for the buttons.
The shirts were turtle necks that I found for $3 dollars and glued on white strips that I had left over. I did the same with the socks. We got long burgundy softball socks and cut strips of cloth and glued them on. The pants bunched at the knee, so you need longer socks to cover your legs. We just bought paint for our hair and face and that was it.
We had a friend who had the Willy Wonka costume, which made the idea even better! The costumes were very easy and fun to make. Charlie and I won best costume, and I think he would agree that it was such a fun night!
I think it cost me $25 dollars total to make both costumes which made it even better!
Awesome costumes
I love it…….esp. the hair!
