Coolest Oompa Loompa Costume

My boyfriend and I decided to go as Pimp Willy Wonka and the Naughty Oompa Loompa. However, the more I searched the less I could find by way of 1971 Oompa Loompa to even convert so I decided to do an Oompa Loompa costume myself.

I took a pleated, white mini mini skirt, white ruffled panties, brown tights and then my best friend and I glued brown ribbon to a pair of white thigh high’s (you have to do this while they are on your body and there is a right and left leg once you are finished because of the way your leg is shaped.)

I then got a $20 wig I purchased off of eBay and strips cut away from a cheaper wig that I glued in for extra “oomp” with my pig tails. I made pom poms for my hair and feet out of yarn by wrapping it around a piece of cardboard, tying off the center and then cutting the loops. We made the buttons from little round wooden disks that we painted with fabric dye and drilled 4 holes in, then stitched the white satin ribbon and the buttons on to look like suspenders.

For the collar and arm bands I picked up a brown turtleneck at the thrift store for 1.00 and cut the neck and arms off. We then used masking tape to tape off stripes and white fabric paint. Add some white gloves and a big round sucker and the costume part was complete! I used basic face bronze to achieve the orange look, the white fabric paint for the eyebrows and viola!

Naughty Oompa Loompa! (for a fun touch I printed out golden tickets to pass around and made a special one from my boyfriend). It was one of the funnest costumes EVER!
