I thought this Oompa Loompa costume would be such a cute idea being that he is so short and cute! I had looked on several sites looking for a pattern on this costume. I decided to wing it and use several different tips from all the sites and make it by looking at pictures.
The wig was a long blond wig that I cut and used rollers to hold the style. Then I used green spray paint. I used dark foundation and white face paint.
The shirt was a white turtle neck that I dyed brown. The stripes are made out of tape. The shorts are baseball shorts and the suspenders are ribbon. The socks were just women’s brown dress socks with tape for stripes. Then I made pom poms using yarn!
For his candy bag, we used a white pillow case and spray painted the word sugar on it. I tied knots in the corners so it would look like a bag of sugar(since that’s what the Oompa Loompa’s took care of. They were always dumping large bags of sugar in the chocolate!)
Very easy and fun to make. We got so many compliments this year. Everyone we walked past had something to say about the costume. People would start singing the Oompa Loompa song as we passed!
Total spent: $40
Time: 3 hours (I’m a perfectionist!!)
Boc Boc thinks you are soooo cute. You are the cutest thing in the world and your mommy is awesome! I LOVE YOU!
This has to be the cutest oompa loompa costume yet. There are so many on here, but the others are mainly adults and this little one is absolutely adorable. Oompa Loompas are short and cute. He fit this costume perfectly. Great job! You would have my vote!
He is the cutest oompa loompa yet!! Very creative!
Hey I think I know that kid. You looked so cute Tuck. And yes he has a great mommy!!
I wish I had found this before I made my son’s costume. His is very cute, too, but I sewed almost everything! Thank goodness I saw this before I tried sewing the tights! I ended up using white tape, too, and that saved so much time. I wish I could think resourcefully! Great job!
