My name is Molly aka Smurfette. In September 2011 my boyfriend and I saw the new Smurf movie that came out. After we got out of the theater we were so pumped because I suggested that we have to dress up like Papa Smurf and Smurfette for Halloween. I went through many painful stages in order to get my costume completely legit. I needed to buy some crazy blue face paint and one of my friends suggested that I buy latex blue body paint. Biggest mistake ever! I ended up loosing half my eyebrows because in order to get the paint off you have to peel it off resulting into the worst waxing job I have ever had.
My boyfriend and I went to many Halloween costume contests and got the most complements I have ever had in my life for our Homemade Papa Smurf and Smurfette Couple Costume. Maybe I should paint myself blue more often. We however didn’t win any of the contests, but to me we really did win in the end. It felt so good to have so many people that I didn’t even know tell us how much they loved our costumes.
I put so much work, thought, and pain into getting these costumes together. After throwing out the latex paint and painting on a new set of eyebrows I thought that we looked like the best life size smurfs ever! Even though we didn’t win the bar costume contests I hope that who ever judges our photos will fall in love with them and pick us to win.
