Every Halloween my husband makes his own costume and they are always fantastic, I have always purchased mine… this year I decided to make my own too and I had SO MUCH FUN! I decided to be a Homemade Peacock Costume!
I started by sourcing out some real peacock feathers (we found a local farm on Kijiji and went for a visit… that is a whole other story, lol!) Then I bought a corset, which my husband loved, and fishnet stockings and a tutu.
I made a board for the feathers to be glued to and covered one side with cotton balls so if was soft against my back. The board then slid into the back of the corset. This was perfect so you could take it in and out when getting into the car etc.
We went to two different parties and my costume was in the top 5 both times and runner up in one of them! Pretty good for being my first homemade costume I’d say.
This was so much fun and I will never buy another pre-made costume again!
