Cutest Every DIY Peacock Costume

Here are the details of how I put this Homemade Peacock Costume together:

Body Suite:
For the body suit I used a one piece body suit that unsnaps at the crotch area (makes it easier to go the the bathroom). I purchased real peacock feathers and just cut the end off so all I was left with was the eye of the peacock. I used a hot glue gun and glued all of the eyes on my bodysuit. Only put the glue towards the bottom (the stem) of the feather so that way the feathers aren’t all full of the glue.

Peacock fan:
Start with making a fan out of cardboard and then glue the (long) feathers to that. Once done and dry turn the cardboard over and cover the cardboard with a (small) black boa. I hot glued it. Attach the “handle” of the cardboard fan to a belt (for easy removal). There should be still part of the handle that goes below the belt. Tuck that into the tutu when you where it.

Tail:
I started with my tutu. I made a normal however for the tail part I used extra long tule and a blue and black Boa. Just fold the Boa in half and attach it just how you would the tule.

Hair-peace:
Cut some black cloth into a teardrop. I used a total of 16 peacock eyes for this part. Glue them on the tear drop cloth. It should hang of the cloth some. After they are all glued on trim part of the tops of the feathers down so it’s mostly just the eye part you see. Other wise the eyes get covered up! I used turquoise crystals and glued 2 on to each eye to add more dazzle. On the back of the hair peace attach (glue) a clip on it so it can be easily clipped into your hair. Point of the tear drop should be towards your face.

Make-up: Just airbrushed some bright yellow, green & blue on my eyelids with face paint (mine glowed in the dark). Then I used peacock eyelashes to finish it off.

  1. I love your peacock costume! I wanted to be a peacock but the costumes are sooo expensive. It did cost you much to make it when it was all said and done?
