Pieces:
– Plaid Skirt (blue/black, cheap at wal-mart! and re-wearable!)(also, I glued some store-bought peacock feathers to mine)
– Brown/black/blue/green/purple belt (whatever looks cute!)
-Long-sleeved turquoise shirt (also got this cheap at wal-mart and I still wear it)
-Necklace (mine is a blue beaded one from claire’s)
-Shoes (mine are turquoise blue converse high tops)
– Black Tights (Blue would also be cute)
-Peacock Hair clip or headband (these are really popular at claire’s, forever 21, most girls’ accessories stores).
For the Vest/Feathers:
I bought lots of long peacock feathers from hobby lobby (15 or so) and stuck them into a circular piece of foam (the kind you stick fake flowers into). I super-glued this to a simply made green vest my mom sewed for me. However, there are a zillion brown, green, blue, and purple vests out there that would work just as well. I also added a safety pin to close the vest so the feathers wouldn’t sag and weigh the vest down too much.
It’s hard to tell in the picture, but I also wore some pretty blue, purple, and green eye shadow and eyeliner. If you like falsies, there are some great colorful ones out there you can buy, and even some with feathers.
Experiment and have fun with the colors. Hope this helps you with your Peacock Homemade Costume!!
