My daughter desperately wanted to be a Pet Shop Mouse for Halloween, and after searching and searching the internet for such a costume, I came to the realization that I would have to figure this one out on my own.
I started my Pet Shop Toy Costume with a punch-ball balloon and blew it up to it’s largest size. I paper mached the balloon with five layers of newspaper. After layer number 3, I attached two paper plates for the ears using tape and glue. I then covered the ears with paper mache while completing the layers on the head.
Using white fleece I covered the head and ears, and I tucked extra material into the head to keep it secure and stop it from wobbling around. The nose is made of fleece that is cut in a circle and stuff with stuffing. It is hot glued to the head. The eyes were made from fun foam. The ears have pink felt inside.
The costume itself is a simple pant and sweatshirt pattern made with the same white felt material as the head. I cut a pink tail out of fleece and hot-glued it to the back of the sweathshirt and added grey fleece to the front and presto! Instant Pet Shop Mouse.
We got a TON of compliments and lots of requests to make more for the next Halloween from all of her friends.
What an amazing costume!! Fabulous job!!
