My daughter was more into Pippi than modern day shows so I made her a Pippi Longstocking costume. The fun stuff, I used pipe cleaners to shape her braids. I started with one pipe cleaner in one of the 3 strands, then braided as usual, then ended with plain rubber bands. I then spray painted her hair orange with Wal-Mart or dollar tree Halloween hair color.
I then used pencil eyeliner to freckle up her face. Then we went through some old clothes, cut up an old yellow adult size undershirt. I cut most of the back off since the style calls for an apron like dress. Had it over an adult size t-shirt which fits as baggy dress for child. I tore off some old mismatching pockets to serve as functional pockets.
Last, I got some stockings from Wal-Mart (2 pair for mismatch set.) She used my boots for the big shoes, but tied them real tight so they wouldn’t make her fall.
How exactly did you cut the shirt to make it look like a dress?
I tried the pipe cleaners but it wouldn’t hold them up…
