My daughter wanted to be a peacock last year for Halloween but I couldn’t find a costume that I liked or was willing to pay for. That forced me to make one for her but it turned out so cute and she was the only peacock around. She got so many compliments on this Pretty Peacock Costume. It was pretty simple and cost about $35 total.
I started with a black leotard and black tights that we already had and added jewels to the leotard. I got some tulle in the same colors and cut it in strips and sewed it to sequined elastic to make a tutu. I got a few peacock feathers and some green grass to fill out the tail. I cut a piece of cardboard in a rectangle and folded in half. I hot glued the feathers and grass in the middle so it was like a sandwich with the feathers sticking out of the top.
I then covered the cardboard part with black material and added black elastic for two shoulder straps. It was then a backpack that she could wear and take off in the car or inside. We also added some of the jewels to the back of the backpack with hot glue. We finished with face paint and black sparkly shoes and it was done!
Just wanted to say that this is adorable! Great Idea and love the face paint!
