Every year with the help of my mom (who is a great seamstress) I have a unique and homemade costume. This year our office theme was Alice in Wonderland and I was the Queen of Hearts.
I found a pattern for a dress with a high collar, and with serious alterations in mind, we (or should I say she!), went to work. Four fittings $75 and several days worth of sewing later I had this great queen of hearts homemade costume.
For the breast plate we copied a queen of hearts playing card on to iron-on transfer paper. and the crown was made from an empty Quaker grits container cut into the shape of a crown, painted gold, with a few fake gems glued on for good measure. I carried a flamingo shaped pocketbook that I found on eBay (it came in handy for taking off Alice’s head).
What a awesome costume,,I wish I had checked here a month ago,,UGh always waiting last minute….Wish I could borrow the costume, lol
