For Halloween this year, I had a Red Queen from Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland Girl’s Costume Idea to do as a family theme. I was the White Queen and my 3 year old daughter was the Red Queen of Hearts. It looked so good since she is small, we were able to get the sizes pretty close.
To make her dress I started with a standard Queen of Hearts costume from Wal-Mart. Since those usually look cheap though, I added a few more things to improve on it. I sewed lace along the edges and around the collar. I also added lace across the bust and some metal embellishments (like for making jewelery). Then I got an adult size curly pony tail wig (the kind that are just supposed to go over a pony tail) An adult one was necessary because the red queen has a huge head, and this (on my daughters small head) made it look like her head was bigger than her body. Since I could only find regular colored ones, I sprayed it with temporary spray of bright red color. Then when I had it in her hair, I sprayed her real hair (brown) with the red.
I used white foundation on her face and then blue eye shadow. To look more like the movie, I colored in her real eyebrows with the blue shadow and drew pencil thin eyebrows, higher up. You also have to make the lips white and draw a heart over her mouth.
Top is all off with a crown, scepter, white tights and fancy shoes and that’s all you need.
