Coolest Sally Ragdoll from the Nightmare Before Christmas Costume

My 6 year old daughter wanted to be Sally from the Nightmare Before Christmas but the costume did not come in her size… ANYWHERE so, we decided to make it.

I headed to the local thrift store and found different fabrics to match the patches from the dress. I originally was going to glue all the patches onto a dress but we could not find a dress that would work. We found a woman’s purple blouse that worked perfectly as a dress for my 6 year old daughter! I cut the thrift clothes into patches and glued them onto the purple dress/blouse using flexible stretchable fabric glue.

I used black fabric marker to draw the swirls, dots and stripes onto the purple. We found stocking with stitches at the costume store and striped black and white socks at the dollar store. She used her regular black school shoes. I drew stitches onto her arms and painted her face blue using face paint. I drew black stitches on her face with the face paint.

The Sally Ragdoll from the Nightmare Before Christmas Costume was fun, easy and cheap! A big hit!

  1. Yes, it’s glued. Make sure you use STRETCHABLE, FLEXIBLE cloth glue! The regular cloth glue may not adhere to something that is too porous.
