I made this skeleton costume for my son last year and it was really a hit! He loves skeletons but I felt he was too young for a “scary” costume so I came up with this one.
I purchased a black sweat suit, white knit hat, and various colors of felt. I used a diagram of the human body’s skeleton to make patterns for the bones and sewed them on the sweat suit. I added special touches like a snake, heart, and pumpkin out of different colors of felt. Also, I glued a spider on the hat. Right before Halloween I found a pair of skeleton gloves and they completed the costume.
The bone pieces could also be “glued” on the sweat suit to save time and energy (it did take a lot of time to stitch on each bone) but I’m not too familiar with that process.
