These Spaceballs Costumes were easy. Not to much work, just a bit of thrift store shopping, sewing, measuring and cutting and gluing.
Dark Helmet started with the witches cauldron cut to fit around the face. A hockey helmet was glued to the top, which made it easier to wear. A Dracula cape, black sweats, black shorts and pirate boot covers, an old black long sleeve shirt with silver glitter glue to paint the design on the shirt. Black gloves and of course “Swartz ring”.
Princess Vespa was made with an old set of white curtains and a long wig. Barf got the clothes and name tag and fun fur cut to make head piece, fur hands and feet.
Dot Matrix was more involved. I sprayed an old shirt gold and a pair of old sweats. A skirt was made from old curtains and spray painted gold. Milk jugs painted gold were glued to the bodice after it was put on. A body piece, calf, thigh and arm bands were cut out of Bristol board to fit her height.
To attach them, we glued on velcro. The elbow and knee joints are dryer vent tubing. A clear full mask was sprayed gold as well as the Bristol board and vent tubing. A gold wig for hair. Glow sticks inserted in the “virgin alert” completed the look.
We won “Best Group” and “2nd place” in the Male division.
