Sponge Bob was made from a refrigerator box that was cut to size. With legs he was 7 feet tall. Most of the covering is made from felt that was attached with spray on craft glue. His mouth is the viewing window and is made from solar screen.
His eyes are paper plates covered in felt. There are braces inside duct taped to enable the wearer to rest the costume on his shoulders. Sponge Bob’s jelly fish was made from a clear umbrella.
I padded the inside of the umbrella with bubble wrap and broke open glow sticks to make it glow. The umbrella was covered in net fabric, looped underneath and ribbon was attached to the netting to create tentacles.
I used ribbon with wire in it so that I could curl it. The photo was taken next to a Queen Palm which looked like his “Pineapple Under the Sea House”.
