Coolest Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Costumes

My housemates and I go to the University of Winchester (UK) and on nights out there is usually a theme at our student union. One week the theme was 90’s and so we all discussed things we loved when we were little that would be great to go as (we always make a big effort with our costumes!) Finally we decided on the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Costumes as both the girls and guys loved the idea!

We bought cheap green vest tops and either sewed or spray painted on a yellowy gold sick pack and we painted our entire bodies green. For your bottom half we decided (as we are poor students haha) to wear anything we could find in our wardrobes that was green/black/brown. I wore black shorts. To make the shells we went around to shops asking for their thrown out cardboard boxes which we then cut into shapes and drew the pattern on with black felt tip. We then made small holes at the top and bottom and put string through and knotted it- so we were wearing the shells like back packs.

To make the masks we bought different coloured ribbons or used left over material we had at home and cut them into thin strips with eye holes. It took a few days to get rid of the green paint properly but it was worth it as everyone who saw us loved the costumes!
