I made this Homemade Watermelon Costume for my son. It’s simple enough to do. I folded a yard of red fabric in half and cut a semicircle. I did the same to a yard of cotton batting. I stitched together the two pieces and cut out a hole just big enough for my son’s head. Then cut a slit on one side to make sure my son’s head would fit through the hole. Then I decorated the red poncho with light and dark green fabric, then cut out seeds from black fabric.
Then as a finishing touch, I stitched red ribbons to each flap of the slit so the poncho can be secured at the neck. Simple!
nice one!
Hello, how did you do it so that it remains horizontal from the neck to the sides?
Hi! I reinforced the back of the fabric with cotton batting, to stiffen it without weighing it down. :)
