I took inspiration for this Wheel of Fortune costume from my childhood. I grew up in the good ole days of watching Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right with my parents. I always loved seeing the ladies of the 80s in those big gaudy outfits, so naturally when opportunity knocked I said, “Come on in Vanna!”
I shop at Goodwill all the time, so it was easy to find my dress and I lucked out on some faux diamond jewelry and heels (not shown cause apparently heels and gravel don’t mix). I wish I would have done the BIG hair. He already had everything in his closet so I went to work on the backdrop.
Wheel of Fortune Costume Backdrop
- I found some awesome red curtains at Goodwill and we snagged an old shower curtain rod which fit perfectly over the trunk latch.
- The sign and the “wheel” I made out of cardboard. My parents own a sign shop and made the letters, but you could just as easily use stencils if you like.
- I put the “wheel” on a lazy Susan to make it interactive for kids.
- We put 1, 2, and 3 on it and the kids could “spin to win” the amount of candy they got.
Needless to say, we had a line out the wazoo!!!
Hope this helped inspire you and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!
