I made this creative Magic Carpet Ride Optical Illusion Halloween costume for my 3 year old daughter to wear in our hometown contest. She won best overall in her age group this year!
I used a large pillow case I found at Goodwill and two pieces of foam board for the “carpet”. I lucked out and found a celestial print shower curtain to use around the bottom of the rug to hide her feet and legs. I used sheer material and made straps that crossed over her chest to hold the costume up. I stuffed a pair of her pants with paper and put a pair of her shoes into socks and attached to stuffed socks to the fake legs. The cloud around her is polyester fiber fill. Everything is held together with hot glue. The hardest part was balancing out the carpet to keep it level on her. It only too a few days to make and was a lot of fun!
P.s. she didn’t wear her Cleveland browns pajamas with it the night of the contest, she wore a purple and white striped shirt.
