I’ve always wanted to be Buzz Lightyear for Halloween. So this year I made it happen. All told it took about 2 weeks, with about 1-2 hrs a day spent planning, making, and assembling the costume. I used the following:
Materials I needed to buy:
- 4 2ft x 2ft foam mats (like the ones you would find in a kids play room
- roll of white duct tape
- roll of purple duct tape
- roll of lime green duct tape
- White Spray Paint
- Purple Spray Paint
- Green Spray paint
- 7 led lights from the dollar store
- 2 strips of thin foam from a craft store
- Materials I had:
- Pair of rubber work boots
- Face shield for painting
- Some screws
- 3 Glow sticks
- Heat Gun
- Hot Glue gun
- Velcro straps
I made the body, the wings, chest piece, and head piece out of the kids play room foam. Spray painting the appropriate areas. Bending with a heat gun, and attaching together with a hot glue gun. Then I attached the lights. The gloves I made out of duct tape. The gauntlets I made out of the foam I got from the craft store. The boots I used duct tape to color.
Most everything was trial and error. Wasn’t exactly how I pictured it when I started, but I was very pleased with the out come. Enjoy!
